Manufacturing and processing: Digital job cards for textile printers
Digital job cards for textile printers that bring the approved placement proof, size breakdown and press settings to the press, and record counts and misprints per job.
What a job card for textile printers should hold.
On the floor at textile printers, mistakes happen in details nobody wrote down. The printer gets a printout of the design marked left chest, but not how far from the collar or whether the print should shrink for the smallest sizes. Whether the approved proof was the version with or without underbase has to be checked. After printing nobody counts per size what passed and what was rejected, so at packing two XLs turn out to be missing. Misprints go in a bin with no note of what went wrong, and replacement garments are ordered without purchasing knowing which job they are for.

Proof and settings at the press
The job card shows the approved placement proof for each position, with distance from collar or seam, print size per size group and press settings such as screen number, ink, underbase and temperature. The printer works from exactly what the client saw and does not have to rely on memory.
Count by size and placement
After each placement the printer counts good pieces and misprints by size. For each misprint they pick a reason: misregistered, smudge, poor coverage or scorched fabric. If pieces are short for the ordered quantities, the job card shows it immediately and replacement garments can be requested.
Check and pack
At packing someone checks the cured print, the count per size and any named personalisation. What goes into each box or bag is recorded. Anything that differs from the order, such as a size to follow later, is noted on the job card and carried through to invoicing and client contact.
No more paper and loose photos.
Many print shops work with a printed job sheet, a separate paper proof and a tally written on the box. The job card replaces that paper flow but not the way people work: printers still set up the press the way they always have, only the recording changes. Designs and proofs come from wherever artwork currently produces them. Counts and misprints feed stock and, if agreed, job costing.
Count by size or by job
Counting only the total is quick but hides that there are three too many mediums and three too few larges. Counting by size takes a little longer at the press but avoids surprises at packing. For orders with named personalisation, counting per piece is effectively unavoidable.
Required misprint reason or optional
A required reason produces useful data for improvement, but at busy times it becomes a meaningless tick. A short list of fixed reasons plus a free note works best. It is quick to fill in and still allows an unusual cause to be recorded. Over time the list is refined from those notes.
Screen at the press or afterwards
A screen at the press allows recording on the spot, but inky fingers and pace make typing difficult. Recording at the end of the job is easier but details get lost. Large buttons and minimal typing make recording during the work realistic. A scanned code on the job sheet is another option where screens are impractical.

At the start, the job card shows the approved proof and the print settings per position. Counts and misprints are recorded per size, and the card closes with inspection and packing. Before the floor uses it, we walk through an ordinary order of company shirts together and a team order with names where some are misprinted and must be redone. Requesting replacement garments from the card, hours per order and planning alongside you switch on when it suits you.

Explore pricing and optionsCan the printer see whether small sizes need a smaller print?
Yes. The placement proof includes print size and distance from collar or seam per size group, as approved by the client. For kids' sizes or a slim fit, the adjusted version is listed separately. The printer does not have to judge it by eye.
How do we handle misprints that are still sold?
A misprint sold as a second or given away gets that destination in the record. It does not count as loss, but it remains visible that the print went wrong. That keeps the misprint data honest without throwing garments away unnecessarily.
What if the client wants a change during production?
A change to placement or design requires a new proof and new approval. Until then the job card stays on the old version or the job is paused. Whatever has already been printed is counted and recorded, so it is clear which pieces were made from the old version.
Does the job card work for transfers and digital print?
Yes. The settings shown differ per method, such as temperature and press time for a transfer or the print profile for direct to garment. Counting by size and recording misprints work the same for every method.
