Manufacturing and processing: Enquiry form for stone fabricators
An enquiry form for stone fabricators that asks for dimensions, template, edge profile and cut-outs, so the workshop can judge whether a site survey is needed first.
What makes an enquiry complete for stone fabricators.
An enquiry to stone fabricators often starts with a sketch on squared paper or a photo of bare base units. There is a length, but not whether it runs to the wall or to the end of the cabinet, or whether an overhang is wanted. The sink type is missing, as is the hob model, even though the cut-out has to match it precisely. Sales calls back, the customer goes looking, and the enquiry sits idle for a week. Sometimes it only emerges at the survey that the walls are out of square or that a windowsill should be included. A form that asks the right things for each application makes the first assessment reliable.

From form to assessed enquiry.
Choose the application first
The customer starts by saying what needs making: worktop, windowsill, threshold, wall cladding or something else. Only the questions that belong to that choice appear. For a worktop that means shape, number of pieces, sink and hob; for a threshold the wall depth and whether water must drain outwards.
Record cut-outs and edges
For every cut-out the form asks for the type and, where possible, the make and model, with an option to upload the installation drawing. Edge profiles are chosen from cross-sections, per visible edge. If the customer does not know something, they can say so rather than guess, and it becomes an open point.
Assess and book the survey
Sales sees the enquiry with a summary of what is complete and what is still open. From there they choose: a guide price on the stated dimensions, a site survey, or a question back first. That decision and the reason for it stay with the enquiry, so the workshop later knows what the numbers were based on.
Enquiries in one place, not the inbox.
Enquiries reach stone fabricators by email, phone, the showroom and kitchen retailers asking on behalf of their customers. The form does not replace those channels; it gives them a single shape, so what sales hears on the phone goes into the same screen. Installation drawings for sinks and hobs are stored as attachments on the enquiry. If there is already a quoting tool or a spreadsheet, the enquiry is passed into it. Customers own their drawings; you own the assessment and the route chosen.
Customer measures or you survey
For a windowsill or threshold, the customer's own measurements are often good enough for a quote. For a worktop with corners and cut-outs, almost never. The form can state per application whether customer dimensions suffice for a guide price, and makes clear that production is always based on your own survey or template.
Homeowners and kitchen retailers on one form
A kitchen retailer usually supplies a full drawing with cabinet sizes and appliances, while a homeowner arrives with a photo. A single form for both ends up too long for one and too thin for the other. A separate dealer entrance with an upload field for the kitchen plan tends to work better in practice.
Everything required or room for unknowns
The more required fields, the more complete the enquiry, but also the more often someone abandons it halfway because they do not know their hob model. We only require what decides the route. Everything else can stay empty with a box ticked to say it is not yet known, so sales knows what to chase.

For the three applications that come in most often, their own questions, uploads and a summary for the salesperson are ready at the start. Together we walk through a simple window sill enquiry and a worktop in three parts with an undermount sink and an angled wall. The dealer entrance, passing enquiries on to the quote and a confirmation to the customer with the open points still being checked you switch on once the first enquiries arrive cleanly.

Explore pricing and optionsCan a customer upload a photo of a paper template?
Yes, a photo or scan can be attached, with a request to lay a tape measure alongside it. That is often enough for a guide price. For production you always survey yourselves or make your own template, and the confirmation to the customer says exactly that.
What if the customer has not chosen a hob yet?
They say so and the cut-out becomes an open point on the enquiry. Sales can still give a guide price based on a standard cut-out and let the customer know the model must be confirmed before cutting. The enquiry does not have to wait for a decision that comes later.
How do we handle requests for small repairs?
A chipped corner or cracked threshold does not fit a form designed for new worktops. So there is a short repair route: photos, the material if known and the location. Sales then decides whether it can be fixed on site or whether the piece has to come back to the workshop.
Do enquiries from kitchen retailers come in separately?
They land in the same list, but tagged with the retailer's name. You can see at a glance which enquiries come through a dealer and therefore carry different arrangements on price, survey and delivery. The retailer's kitchen plan is attached directly to the enquiry.
