Manufacturing and processing: Customer portal for glass processors
A customer portal for glass processors where glaziers and interior fitters check and approve their measurement sheets, see delivery agreements and follow the status of their panes.
What customers of glass processors want to see.
At glass processors the measurement sheet is the moment of truth. Whatever it says gets cut, and after tempering nothing can be changed. Yet checking the sheet often happens by email: the sales office sends a pdf, the glazier glances at it between jobs and replies with a brief go-ahead. If a size later turns out wrong, nobody can establish who approved what. On top of that, customers call every day to ask when their glass will be ready, which day it will be delivered and whether the racks from the last delivery have been collected. The sales office has to look that up in the order system and the schedule each time.

Access per customer and project
Each trade customer or contractor gets access to their own orders, optionally by project. Within a company the estimator can approve measurement sheets and the site manager sees delivery agreements. Consumers, if you want, get a simple link per order.
Check and approve the sheet
The customer sees the measurement sheet per pane with sizes, glass type, edges, holes and cut-outs, including a sketch. They can comment on a pane or approve the whole sheet. Approval is recorded with name and time, after which the order is released for production.
Follow status and delivery
After approval the portal shows per pane whether it has been cut, processed, tempered and is ready for delivery. The delivery agreement sits alongside, with the racks going out. When a pane breaks and is remade, the customer sees the new expected date without having to call.
Less email, the same records.
Glass processors keep measurement sheets and orders in the order system, production status in the schedule or on the planning board and delivery agreements in dispatch's diary. The portal reads from those sources and shows the customer what belongs to their orders. The sales office owns the measurement sheet until approval, the customer owns their approval and dispatch owns the delivery agreement.
Approve per pane or per sheet
Approving pane by pane is thorough but slow on a sheet with many panes. Approving the whole sheet is quick but means panes are not really looked at. A middle way is approval per sheet, with panes that have cut-outs or irregular shapes requiring a separate tick.
Customer edits or requests a change
If customers can change a size themselves it is quick, but a change after cutting can slip through unnoticed. A change request reviewed by the sales office first is safer. The portal lets the customer propose changes, and the sales office confirms or reports that the glass is already in production.
Show delivery day or time slot
A glazier who has to be on site wants to know when the glass is coming. A delivery day is usually achievable; a time slot needs route planning that accounts for distances and racks. If dispatch plans that way, the slot can be shown; otherwise a delivery day with a call ahead is the more honest promise.

In the portal, regular customers check and approve their measurement sheets per pane, and see the status up to ready for delivery. We try it together with a simple order approved in one go, and with a measurement sheet on which the customer wants to move a cut-out in one pane. Delivery arrangements with racks, change requests and access for site supervisors can be switched on when customers ask.

Explore pricing and optionsCan a customer still change something after approval?
They can submit a change request. If the pane has not been cut, the sales office can process the change and a new approval follows. If it has already been cut or toughened, the portal shows that and the sales office explains what a change would mean.
Can customers see which racks they still have?
Yes, if you track racks per customer. The portal shows which racks went out with which delivery and which have not been reported back. The customer can mark a rack as ready for collection, which helps dispatch plan the next run.
Do consumers have to create an account?
Not necessarily. For consumers a personal link per order often works better than an account. They can view and approve the measurement sheet and follow the status. For trade customers with many orders, an account with an overview of all projects is more practical.
What if the customer's own sheet differs from what we entered?
The customer sees the difference during the check and can flag it per pane. That is why the sheet in the portal must show the panes as they will be cut, with the sketch, and not just a copy of what the customer supplied.
