Transport and delivery: Digital job cards for boat transporters
Digital job cards for boat transporters with a transport plan per run: support points, lifting details, route and condition photos at loading and unloading.
What a job card for boat transporters should hold.
A driver collecting a boat needs to know where the slings go, which points of the hull rest on the supports and which fittings are fragile. At boat transporters, that information often comes from a phone call with the planner or from the memory of the driver who moved the same boat last year. Condition photos are taken but sit loose on a phone without the date or location tied to the run. If a scratch on the hull is reported after delivery, there is no way to prove it was already there. A job card per run therefore has to keep the transport plan, the loading check and the delivery evidence together.

From preparation to signed-off card.
Prepare the transport plan
Before departure, the job card holds the boat with its dimensions and weight, the trailer, the route and the support points. Where known, the lifting points are shown with a photo or drawing. It also lists the contact at the pickup location and who operates the crane. The driver no longer has to ring the planner for details.
Load with checks and photos
At pickup, the driver takes condition photos all round the boat before it is lifted. Once it is on the trailer, they confirm the supports are correctly placed and the straps fitted. Anything unusual, like damage that was already there, is captured with a photo and a short note.
Deliver and record the handover
At the delivery location, the driver photographs the boat again at the same points. The recipient or harbour master signs for receipt on screen. Any waiting time at the crane is logged with start and end times. The job card is then closed and goes with its photos to the planner and invoicing.
No more paper and loose photos.
Drivers currently use their own phones for photos and sometimes a paper consignment note or handover form. We put the job card on the same phone, so photos are stored directly with the run, including time and place. Boat details come from the enquiry, route and trailer from scheduling. The driver owns what is recorded during the run; the planner owns the transport plan.
Fixed photo points or free shooting
Free shooting is quick but sometimes misses exactly the shot needed later. A fixed series of points, such as bow, transom, both sides and keel, makes it possible to compare loading with unloading. It takes a little longer, but in a damage claim the difference is large. The job card guides the driver through each point.
Signature or photos alone
A signature from the owner or harbour master at handover makes it clear the boat was accepted in the condition shown. Someone is not always present, for example at a storage yard outside opening hours. Then photos with time and place must suffice, and the owner is informed afterwards.
Transport plan per boat or per run
Some boats are moved there and back every year. A transport plan kept with the boat, including lifting points and support positions, saves work on the next run. Run-specific matters, such as the route and crane, belong to that single run. Separating the two builds up knowledge per boat over time.

The driver gets a transport plan with dimensions, support points and contacts, is guided past fixed photo points when loading and unloading and records the handover and waiting time. We put those photo points together with you. Then we walk through an ordinary trip from marina to storage, and a trip where existing damage is discovered on arrival. Keeping plans per boat and showing the handover in the client portal can be added.

Explore pricing and optionsCan the driver use the job card without signal?
Yes. Marinas and storage yards are not always in places with good coverage. The job card works offline and stores photos and notes until a connection returns. The planner sees the update later, but nothing is lost along the way.
How do we record existing damage?
At loading, the driver photographs the fixed points and can capture any damage separately with a close-up and a note. These are stored in the job card with time and place. If the damage is reported later, it is clear it was there before the transport took place.
Does the driver see where the slings should go?
If that information is known from the enquiry or an earlier run, it appears in the job card with a photo or drawing. For a new boat, the driver can photograph the sling positions after lifting. That is kept with the boat for next time.
Can the owner see the photos straight away?
That is possible through the customer portal, once the job card is closed or earlier if you prefer. Some businesses send handover photos automatically with the delivery confirmation. What is shared and when is your choice per type of client.
