Transport and delivery: Inventory software for vehicle transporters
Inventory software for vehicle transporters that tracks straps, wheel chocks, loading ramps and winches per truck, so every run leaves with complete and inspected loading gear.
Where stock drifts for vehicle transporters.
A car carrier is only usable when its loading gear is complete: enough straps or wheel chocks for every position, ramps long enough for lowered cars, wheel skates for a car with locked wheels and a working winch. At vehicle transporters this equipment moves from truck to truck, gets borrowed by a colleague or stays behind at a customer's site. Straps wear and need regular checks. A driver who discovers in the morning that two straps are missing from the truck has to go looking first. With a non-running car and no wheel skates, the run cannot go ahead at all.

Check at departure and reserve
In progressBefore leaving, the driver runs through a short check: are all straps present and sound, does the winch work, are the ramp extensions on board? For a run with a lowered or non-running car, the planner sees which extra gear is needed and reserves it for that truck.

Register loading gear per truck
Straps, wheel chocks, ramps, wheel skates and winches are registered per truck. Straps as sets, pricier items such as winches and ramp extensions individually. Each item records its last check. One overview then shows what belongs on each truck and what spare stock sits at the depot.

Report defects and update
A worn strap or damaged ramp is reported by the driver with a photo. The item is removed from available stock and flagged for replacement. Anything moved between trucks is recorded, so the departure check matches the right truck and nobody is surprised at the next pickup.

Vehicle transporters rarely track loading gear; there is often a fixed list per truck that the driver keeps in their head. Winch inspections are sometimes carried out by an outside party. At the start we take that data over, so inventory sits in the same software as scheduling and the job card. The fleet manager owns the inventory and inspection records; the driver checks at departure and reports defects.
Fixed kit or shared spares
Equipping every truck with every possible item is expensive. A fixed basic kit per truck with a shared reserve for special items, such as extra-long ramps, is more efficient. It does require the planner to know where the reserve is and to reserve it in time for the run that needs it.
Straps or wheel chocks
Some carriers use straps over the wheels, others wheel chocks, or a combination. Which system you use determines what needs checking and replacing. The software follows what is actually on the truck, so the departure check fits the equipment of that specific truck rather than a generic list.
Per-run check or periodic inspection
A quick check on every run catches wear before it becomes a risk. A thorough periodic inspection by a competent person is advisable or required for some equipment, such as winches. The software tracks both and flags any item that is past its inspection date before it goes out.

Loading gear is registered per truck and in the depot, the driver runs a check at departure and defects arrive as reports. We take over your fixed list per truck at the start. We rehearse an ordinary week and a run where a non-running car needs extra wheel dollies that are on another truck. Inspection dates with reminders, replacements per truck and gear left behind with clients can be switched on later.

Explore pricing and optionsDoes the driver have to count everything every morning?
Not everything. The departure check is short and focuses on what that run needs: enough straps for the number of cars, a working winch if a non-running car is included. A full count can happen weekly or after a report.
How do we know a strap needs replacing?
The driver reports a frayed or damaged strap with a photo, and it is removed from stock straight away. You can also set an inspection date per set, so straps without visible damage are still looked at periodically.
Can the planner see whether a truck has a winch?
Yes. Each truck lists its fixed equipment, such as a winch or hydraulic ramp. When scheduling a non-running car, the planner sees immediately which trucks are suitable, without phoning the depot to ask which truck is equipped.
What if gear is left behind at a customer?
The driver reports it in the job card with the location. The item then shows as off site in inventory until it is collected. It does not drop out of sight, and the planner knows the truck is a strap or ramp short until then.
What often connects to this.
- Digital job cards for vehicle transportersDigital job cards for vehicle transporters with a vehicle record for every car: condition photos, mileage, keys and documents logged at collection and delivery.
- Website for vehicle transportersA website for vehicle transporters that explains which service fits each kind of vehicle and destination, including what changes when a car cannot drive itself.
- Enquiry form for vehicle transportersAn enquiry form for vehicle transporters that asks for vehicle dimensions, running condition, pickup address and keys, so the planner knows in advance whether a winch or recovery truck is needed.
