Construction and installation: Quotation software for sun-shading installers
Quotation software for sun-shading installers that builds the price from type, size, fabric, controls and mounting height, based on what was surveyed on site.
Where quotes for sun-shading installers get stuck.
A sun-shading quote looks like a matter of size and type, but for sun-shading installers the margin is in the details. Fabric from a higher price band, a motor with a wind sensor instead of a switch, installation on the second floor with an access platform, and a cable that has to go through the wall: each has its own price. Advisers often work from a supplier price list and a mark-up they carry in their heads. The customer gets a total, and after acceptance it turns out the mounting height was not included or the motor still needs an electrician.

From enquiry to signed quote.
Start from the survey
The quote begins with the surveyed details per opening: shading type, width and projection or drop, mounting method and floor level. The customer's choices for fabric, frame colour and controls are added. Anything still undecided, such as the exact colour within a price band, can stay open in the quote without changing the price.
Price built up by component
The system calculates the purchase price from the supplier's list by type and size, with surcharges for fabric band, motor, sensors and non-standard colours. Installation is priced separately based on floor level, wall material and whether an access platform or scaffold is needed. Wiring and any electrician appear as their own items.
Quote with options
The customer receives an overview per opening, with options where useful, such as manual versus motorised. On acceptance, the chosen components and sizes are fixed as the product specification for ordering from the supplier. If the customer changes the fabric later, the office can see whether the order has already gone in.
Alongside your calculations and price lists.
Sun-shading installers work with supplier price lists and ordering portals, accounting software and often a spreadsheet or the supplier's own quoting tool. The quoting module imports price lists so nobody copies them by hand, and records your own mark-up, installation rates and surcharges. After acceptance, the specification moves into ordering from the supplier. Price lists belong to the supplier; you set the selling price and installation terms.
Installation included or itemised
A price including installation is clear for homeowners, but makes it hard to explain why the same awning costs more on the second floor. Itemising installation, with a surcharge for height and platform hire, makes those differences easy to discuss. Commercial clients usually expect an itemised quote, homeowners more often a total with an explanation.
Quote on the spot or afterwards
Producing a quote on a tablet during the visit raises the chance of a quick decision. The risk is that a detail such as the power supply has not been properly assessed. Quoting after the visit leaves time to check. A middle route is an indicative price on site and a firm quote the following day.
Offer options or one recommendation
Options with and without a motor, or across fabric bands, help customers choose, but too many lead to procrastination. One clear recommendation with at most one alternative often works better. The quote can show options, but the adviser decides how many make sense for a particular customer.

What we prepare in the quotes.
Into the quote go your price lists for the main types, the rules for fabric bands, controls and mounting height, and separate items for platform hire and wiring, with options per opening. Before going live we work through a standard quote for ground-floor screens together, and a wide folding-arm awning on a balcony with a wind sensor. Online acceptance by the customer works straight away; passing the specification through to the supplier order can be switched on when you are ready.

Explore pricing and optionsCan we use price lists from several suppliers?
Yes. Each supplier has its own price list, imported in whatever format they provide. The quote prices each product from the list it belongs to. When a new list arrives it is imported with an effective date, so open quotes keep their original prices.
How do we include access platform hire in the price?
The adviser notes during the survey whether a platform or scaffold is needed. The quote then adds a fixed item or a half-day rate, depending on what you have agreed with the hire company. That cost always appears, even when several openings are fitted in one visit.
What if the customer is torn between fabrics in different price bands?
The quote can leave the fabric open and show the difference per band. The customer sees what the choice costs without needing a new quote. On acceptance, the final fabric code is recorded before the order goes to the supplier.
Can an adviser give a discount on the spot?
An adviser can discount within an agreed limit. Anything beyond that needs approval from the owner or sales manager. The quote records afterwards which discounts were given and by whom, so you can see whether margins differ by adviser or by product type.
