Repairs and specialist services: Digital job cards for robot mower service companies
Digital job cards for robot mower service companies with a mower card per garden, keeping wire layout, joints, charging station and settings on record for the next visit.
What a job card for robot mower service companies should hold.
Anyone at robot mower service companies sent to trace a wire break often starts blind. Where exactly does the wire run, where are the joints, has the loop been repaired before and with which kind of connector? That knowledge sits with the engineer who did the installation, or nowhere. The mower settings, such as mowing times, zones and how far it follows the guide wire, are not recorded either. After a repair the office does not know whether the blades were also changed or how much wire was used. At the next report from the same garden the search starts again, costing time nobody earns back.

Open the mower card
On each visit the engineer opens the garden's mower card: a sketch showing the boundary wire route, the charging station location, joints and earlier repairs. Alongside are the model, serial number and last known settings. If there is no card yet, he creates one on this visit.
Record work and materials
The engineer records what he did: wire break traced and repaired, joint replaced, blades changed, settings adjusted. A repaired spot goes on the card with a photo. Materials used, such as metres of wire, connectors and blades, are picked from a list so they end up on the invoice.
Finish with a test run
Before leaving, the engineer lets the mower run for a while and confirms it finds the boundary signal and returns to the station. He notes anything unusual, such as a stretch where the wire runs too close to a paved path. The customer signs off and receives a short summary of what was done.
No more paper and loose photos.
Engineers often already use a phone with the manufacturer's app to view settings. The job card runs on the same device and does not replace that app. Jobs come from the schedule, materials from the product file you already keep. The engineer owns the card and what he records on site; the customer owns the mower and the account in the manufacturer's app. The office decides what is invoiced.
Draw a map or annotate photos
A drawn map is clear and easy for a colleague to read, but takes time the first time round. Annotated photos are faster but show the wire route less well. Starting from an aerial photo on which the engineer traces the wire combines the two.
Copy settings or refer to the app
The settings already live in the manufacturer's app, but only the customer has access. A copy on the job card helps a colleague at the next fault, but can go out of date if the customer changes something. Recording only the settings the engineer deliberately chose is often enough.
Test run mandatory or at discretion
A short test run confirms a repair works but costs time on simple jobs such as changing blades. Making it mandatory after any work on wire or station, and discretionary for maintenance, is a reasonable rule that stops the same customer calling again next week.

On the mower card you trace the wire on an aerial photo and record work and materials, followed by the test run and customer sign-off. Which test run is required for which work is agreed at the start. Together we use it on an ordinary wire break, and on a garden where the customer moved the wire himself after laying a patio. Copying settings and carrying the card through to winter service can be switched on later.

Explore pricing and optionsCan we map older installations after the fact?
Yes. On the next visit the engineer traces the wire as far as he knows or finds it. After a few visits the card is complete. There is no need to visit every existing customer in advance.
Does the job card work without mobile signal in rural gardens?
Yes. The job and the card are loaded onto the device in advance, and whatever the engineer records is stored until there is a connection again. Photos are sent afterwards. The engineer can see which cards are still waiting to be sent.
Does the customer see the mower card too?
That is your choice. It can help customers to know where the wire runs, so they keep it in mind when gardening. Internal notes, such as an assessment of the battery's condition, then remain visible to the office only.
What if a colleague finds a different mower from the one on the card?
He updates the model and serial number on the card and records the change. The office gets a notification, so the customer file stays correct for warranty, parts and winter service. The old details are kept as history.
