Charge the offcut or write it off
A sheet's offcut can be charged entirely to the job, or only partly if the remnant stays usable for another part. Charging it all is safe but makes short runs expensive. Offsetting remnants requires a reliable record of what is actually reused. The software shows which choice a quote used.
Programming once or per order
For a new part, programming time is a genuine cost. On a repeat order the program already exists, though it sometimes needs adjusting. Some fabricators charge it once and say so explicitly, others spread it over the expected volume. What matters is that the customer understands why a first order costs more.
Fixed price or time and materials
For a part whose processing is easy to oversee, a fixed price works well. For a complex prototype with uncertain finishing, charging actual time can be fairer, provided the customer knows where they stand. A middle way is a fixed price with one clearly named item settled on actual hours.

If your nesting program can export its result, such as parts per sheet and the remnant share in a file, we read that in. If not, the estimator enters the result by hand. Either way it is stored with the quote, so it is clear later what the price was based on.
How do we price a part made from two materials?
Each component gets its own line with material, nesting and processing. Bonding or assembly appears as a separate item. You can see which component drives the price. If the customer wants one component in a different material, only that line needs recalculating.
What if the sheet price changes after the quote?
The quote stores the sheet price it used. If the customer orders later, the software shows whether the current price differs. You decide whether to hold the old price or recalculate. A validity period can sit in the proposal as standard text, without typing it for every quote.
Can we compare quotes with actual hours?
Yes, if job cards record actual machine time and programming time. You can then see per part whether the estimate was right. That helps refine the calculation rules, especially for processes where estimates often drift, such as polishing or complex routed shapes.
