What a job card for floor coating contractors should hold.
When a blister or delamination appears in a coated floor a year after handover, a floor coating contractor wants to know what happened that day. Was the moisture reading acceptable, how warm was the floor, which primer batch was used, how long between coats? A paper job sheet usually shows only hours and the customer's signature. The foreman may remember, or may not. During the work, too, the overview is missing: which zone has been blasted, which already has primer, where was a crack given extra repair? A job card has to record the substrate check, conditions and every coat for each zone.

Check before the first coat
For each zone the foreman records the substrate condition after preparation: moisture reading, pull-off strength if tested, and visible defects. Floor temperature, air temperature and humidity are noted too. Only once that check is ticked off can the first coat be started on the card.
Recording coats and batches
For every coat the crew notes the product, the batch numbers of the components, the time and the conditions. Extra repair, such as filled cracks or levelling on a low patch, goes on as a separate line with a photo. You can follow what was applied in which order for each zone.
Handover with release
At completion the job card shows the final coat per zone, the cure time and when the floor may be loaded. The customer signs and receives an overview with maintenance advice. Differences from the quote go to the office as a notification for processing in the invoice.

The digital job card takes the build-up from the quote as its starting point and adds readings, batches and photos. A moisture meter or thermometer remains its own device; the value is simply entered. The office owns the build-up, the foreman owns the record of how the work was carried out.
Readings mandatory or advisory
Mandatory readings per zone before coating give certainty and a strong file if complaints arise. It does take time, especially with many small zones. Mandatory before the first coat and whenever conditions are doubtful, optional for later coats in stable conditions, is a workable balance for most crews.
Scanning or typing batch numbers
Scanning the labels on tins is quick and accurate, if the labels carry a readable code. Typing always works but invites errors. A photo of the label as a fallback ensures the information is there, even if scanning fails or the code is damaged. Either way the batch ends up on record.
Handover per zone or per floor
Handing over zone by zone lets a business use areas sooner, but means more signatures and moments. Handing over the whole floor is clearer but keeps areas closed longer. On large commercial floors partial release is often needed; in homes a single handover is the norm. Either way each release stays traceable on the job card with date and name.

Yes. The job card is loaded in advance and works offline. Readings, batch numbers and photos are stored locally and sent once there is signal again. The office then sees the full record per zone, time-stamped when it was entered.
Can we trace complaints back to the job card later?
That is exactly the point. When a complaint comes in you look up the floor and see, per zone, the readings, conditions, batches and the time between coats. That helps establish whether there was an application error, a material problem or a use the floor was not meant for.
Does the customer have to sign off every coat?
No. The customer signs at handover. Interim sign-off is only useful when a zone is released early or extra work is agreed. The record per coat is mainly for your own file and any warranty questions from the manufacturer.
What if the crew departs from the planned build-up?
The foreman records the deviation with a reason, such as an extra primer coat on an absorbent substrate. The office sees a notification and can judge whether it is extra work and whether it affects the warranty or the invoice. The original build-up stays visible alongside it.
