Construction and installation: Customer portal for floor coating contractors
A customer portal for floor coating contractors where customers see their colour choice, finish and schedule for each room, and where release for use is recorded together with maintenance advice.
What customers of floor coating contractors want to see.
Floor coating contractors deal with a lot of back and forth about colour, sheen and anti-slip. The customer picks a colour from a fan deck, later sees a sample in different light and has second thoughts. On a commercial floor the facilities manager wants yellow walkways and the production manager wants white, and both send an email. Then the customer wants to know when each area can be used again and what to clean the floor with. If all of that sits in scattered emails and phone calls, a floor ends up in a colour nobody formally approved, or a forklift drives onto a floor that has not fully cured. A portal has to record choices and releases per room.

Who decides and who views
At the start of the project it is agreed who at the customer gets access and who may approve colour and finish. For a home that is usually one person; for a business often a facilities manager with others viewing. Every approval is linked to an authorised name.
Colour, finish and timing per room
For each room the customer sees the proposed colour, sheen, any anti-slip and line marking, with photos of the sample. Alongside sits the schedule per work zone with the period when the area must not be entered. If the schedule changes, the new date appears in the portal immediately.
Recording release and care
After handover each room shows when the floor can take foot traffic and when it can take full load. Maintenance advice with suitable and unsuitable cleaning products is there too. The customer confirms the release, so it is on record that they knew about the cure time.
Less email, the same records.
Floor coating contractors currently send colour cards, schedules and maintenance advice by email or hand them over on paper. The portal takes colours and build-up from the quote, timing from the planning board and release from the job card. Colour cards and maintenance instructions remain the manufacturer's; you decide which version the customer sees. Approvals are stored with name and time and can be retrieved later if a question or complaint arises.
Colour in the portal or a physical sample
A colour on a screen is an approximation. The portal can record the choice, but the final colour is better decided on a physical sample or test patch. A way of working where the portal records which sample was seen and approved combines convenience with certainty and avoids debate about what was 'really' meant.
Full schedule or release dates only
Showing the full schedule with every coat gives transparency but can confuse when dates move. Showing only when an area is unavailable and when it is free again is often enough for the customer. Commercial clients with their own production plan sometimes want more detail and can have it.
Separate care leaflet or in the portal
A separate maintenance leaflet gets lost. In the portal the advice stays available, including for a new cleaner or facilities employee. The downside is that customers have to log in. A short version in the handover confirmation and the full version in the portal covers both needs.

What customers find in the portal.
Each customer gets a portal per floor with a named decision maker, colour and finish per room for approval, the period in which sections are off limits, and release with maintenance advice after handover. Before customers log in, we replay a residential floor and a business that wants to change the colour of a walkway after approval while the primer is already down. An overview of maintenance moments per floor can be added later.

Explore pricing and optionsCan the customer still change the colour after approval?
Yes, as long as nothing has been ordered or coated. The portal shows until when a change is free of charge. After that a change becomes a request, and the consultant replies with the impact on schedule and price. Both sides know what a late change means.
Does the customer see the moisture reading and other technical data?
That is up to you. Some commercial clients want the readings in their file; homeowners usually do not. The portal can show a summary without all the technical detail, or a full report for those who ask. You set what is visible per customer.
Does maintenance advice stay available years later?
Yes, as long as the project remains in the portal. A customer or their successor can find the advice, along with the colour and finish used. That helps with repairs or extensions, because it is known which system and colour are down.
How does the customer know the floor can take load?
The portal shows per room the date for foot traffic and the date for full load. The customer gets a message when that date arrives. For businesses the message can also go to whoever is bringing back forklifts or heavy fittings.
