Transport and delivery: Customer portal for courier services
A customer portal for courier services where shippers check trip status, proof of delivery and open exceptions for their own consignments.
What customers of courier services want to see.
A courier service fields calls every day from shippers asking whether a consignment has arrived. Customer service then searches the scanner, the inbox or asks the driver, and forwards a photo of the signature. When a parcel goes missing, the search starts again. Large shippers also ask for a monthly overview of all deliveries, which someone assembles by hand from several sources. Meanwhile nobody on the shipper's side knows that a delivery has failed until their own customer picks up the phone to complain.

Decide who sees what per shipper
Each shipper sees only their own consignments. Within a company the split can go further: a branch employee sees that branch's consignments, the logistics manager sees everything. Proof of delivery for private recipients is shown only to the extent you have agreed with the shipper.
Show current status and proof
For each consignment the portal shows whether it has been collected, is on its way, was delivered or failed, with the time and the proof as soon as the driver records it. A shipper can search by reference, recipient or date and download an overview of a period for their own records.
Route responses to exceptions
When a delivery fails, the shipper can say in the portal what should happen next: try again, use another address or return it. That choice lands with the planner as a task, consignment attached. The shipper then sees that the response has been handled, without emails going back and forth.
Less email, the same records.
A shipper usually has its own online shop, stock system or order portal where consignments are created. The portal does not replace that; it adds what happens after collection. Status and proof come from the scanners or driver app you already use. Where a shipper prefers an export or integration to logging in, the software delivers the same information that way. The shipper owns its consignment data; the courier owns the trip data and internal notes.
Login or a tracking link
A tracking link per consignment is simple for a one-off sender and for the recipient. A regular shipper sending dozens of parcels a day wants one place where everything comes together. Many courier services offer both: a link for single consignments and a portal with an overview for regular clients.
Live tracking or milestone status
Following a van live on a map sounds appealing, but it prompts questions whenever it takes a detour or stands still for a while. Milestone status, such as collected, in transit and delivered with a time, is calmer and usually enough. Live tracking can make sense for a time-critical consignment, as a deliberate choice per service.
Recipient access or shipper only
Sometimes the shipper wants its own customer to see where the consignment is. That needs a different kind of access, with no view of other consignments or internal agreements. It is sensible to serve the shipper well first and then decide which information can safely go to the recipient.

Each shipper gets their own login from the start, with consignments, status and proof of delivery, search by reference and a way to respond to a failed delivery. We run a normal day for a regular shipper through it, plus a consignment where the recipient insists nothing arrived, and check together whether the proof holds up. Overviews per period, access per branch and tracking links for recipients can be switched on later.

Explore pricing and optionsCan shippers book new consignments through the portal?
They can, but it does not have to be there from the start. Many shippers already submit consignments through an export or integration. The portal starts with what happens after collection. Booking can be switched on later, with the same fields as the enquiry form, so a shipper has nothing new to learn.
Does a shipper see the driver's name?
Only if you want them to. By default the shipper sees status, time and proof, without the driver's personal details. Some courier services show a first name for a scheduled delivery; that choice can differ per shipper.
How long does proof of delivery stay available in the portal?
You agree that with the shipper, and it depends on your own retention policy. The portal can archive older proof and show it again on request. Put the period in writing so both sides know when proof is no longer instantly available.
Can the portal show surcharges before the invoice arrives?
Yes. If waiting time or an extra stop has been recorded against a consignment, the shipper can already see it in the portal with a time and a reason. That avoids surprises on the invoice and gives the shipper a chance to raise questions before the month is closed.
