Transport and delivery: Operations dashboard for boat transporters
An operations dashboard for boat transporters that shows waiting time at loading sites, runs per trailer and deviations from the quote, each with its source.
Which figures boat transporters really need.
A boat transporter senses that certain marinas cause delays again and again, but cannot back it up. Waiting time is not always recorded, or is scattered across drivers' notes. It is also hard to see which trailers are busiest and whether the autumn peak falls on the same weeks each year. Without a dashboard it remains a matter of impressions, and conversations with marinas or yards happen without evidence. On top of that, nobody has agreed what waiting time actually is: does it start on arrival or at the agreed crane time? Until that is settled, the numbers say little.

From scattered figures to one overview.
Agree the definitions
We set what waiting time is, when a run counts as delayed and how trailer use is measured. Waiting time might start at the agreed crane slot rather than on arrival, for instance. Those agreements sit in the dashboard, so everyone knows what each number is based on.
Connect the sources
The dashboard takes waiting times and timestamps from the job card, runs and trailers from scheduling and the quoted assumptions from the quote. Nothing is retyped. If a source is missing, for example because waiting time is not always logged, that is shown as a limitation next to the figure.
Follow deviations down to the run
If a marina stands out with heavy waiting time, you click through to the runs with the driver's times and notes. You then see whether it was the crane, the boat or the access. The dashboard shows the pattern; you decide whether to raise it with the marina or build it into future quotes.
Figures from your own work.
Run data comes from scheduling, times and photos from job cards, price agreements from quotes and revenue from the accounting package. The dashboard reads from those sources without replacing them. Existing lists of runs from previous seasons can be imported once for comparison. Every number stays owned by the system where it originates, and the dashboard recalculates nothing on its own.
By marina or by client
Waiting time per marina shows where the crane or organisation falters. Waiting time per client shows which owners or yards do not have their boat ready. Both are useful, but for different conversations. The dashboard can show both from the same data, so you choose the right angle for each discussion.
Seasonal picture or weekly overview
Boat transport is strongly seasonal. A weekly overview helps the planner spot bottlenecks during the peak. A seasonal picture helps the owner decide on extra trailers, reserved blocks or rates. We separate what you follow daily or weekly from what you discuss once or twice a year.
Time only or money as well
Waiting time in hours shows where delays occur. Next to revenue and costs, you also see whether that delay is recovered or absorbed by you. For that the software reads costs from your accounting package, and you need clear agreements on which costs count. Many businesses start with time and add money later.

The overview shows waiting time per loading location, use per trailer and deviations from the quote, with fixed definitions and drill down to the trip. We agree those definitions with you. Together we look at the data from a quiet month and a busy autumn week, until planner and drivers recognise the figures. A seasonal overview and waiting time next to revenue are switched on afterwards.

Explore pricing and optionsWhat if drivers do not always log waiting time?
Then the dashboard shows only the runs where it was logged, and states how many runs are missing. That makes clear how reliable the picture is. The job card makes logging easier, so the picture becomes more complete over time.
Can we compare marinas with each other?
Yes, on waiting time per run and the number of delayed runs. Bear in mind differences in boat types and season. The dashboard therefore also shows the number of runs per marina, so an outlier based on two runs does not carry the same weight as a real pattern.
Will we see which trailers are underused?
Yes. Each trailer shows how many days it was scheduled and for which kinds of boats. That helps with decisions on replacement, hiring out or adding a trailer. The conclusion stays with you; the dashboard supplies the facts.
Does the dashboard need checking every day?
Not necessarily. In high season a weekly look at waiting time and trailer use is useful. Out of season a monthly overview is enough. The dashboard does not nag, but it is there when you have questions about a marina or trailer.
What often connects to this.
- Digital job cards for boat transportersDigital job cards for boat transporters with a transport plan per run: support points, lifting details, route and condition photos at loading and unloading.
- Website for boat transportersA website for boat transporters that explains, by boat type and trailer, what can be moved, so owners have their hull dimensions and lifting details ready when they enquire.
- Enquiry form for boat transportersAn enquiry form for boat transporters that captures hull dimensions, weight, lifting details and both locations, so the planner can judge which trailer and crane the job needs.
