Transport and delivery: Inventory software for boat transporters
Inventory software for boat transporters that tracks stands, cradles, keel blocks and securing equipment, so every run leaves with the right support and lashing straps on board.
Where stock drifts for boat transporters.
A boat can only be moved safely when the right supports and securing equipment go with it. A keelboat needs different support from a flat-bottomed boat, and a catamaran needs something else again. At boat transporters, stands, keel blocks, lifting slings and ratchet straps are scattered across the depot, the trailers and sometimes a marina where they stayed behind after a delivery. A driver finds out in the morning that the adjustable stands are still on another trailer. Slings and straps also have a limited life and need regular checks. Without an overview, nobody can see which strap is due for replacement.

Register supports and securing gear
Stands, keel blocks, adjustable supports, lifting slings and ratchet straps each get a number or label. Every item records its type, what it suits and its last check. Straps can be registered as sets. That gives an overview of what exists and where it is: depot, trailer or off site.
Reserve per run
When scheduling a run, the planner sees which supports are needed based on the boat type. They reserve the stands and straps for that run. If those items are on a trailer returning earlier in the day, that is visible. If something is missing, the planner knows in advance rather than at loading.
Check back in and inspect
After the run, the driver reports which equipment came back and which stayed behind, for instance stands under a boat in storage. Damaged or worn straps are rejected and removed from the available list. Equipment left off site stays visible until it is collected.

Boat transporters usually do not track equipment at all, or keep a simple list of what belongs on each trailer. Lifting gear inspections are sometimes carried out by an outside party and recorded in a report. At the start we take that data over; after that, equipment sits in the same software as scheduling and the job card. The depot manager owns the inventory; the driver reports what goes out and what returns.
Fixed set per trailer or central store
A fixed set of supports per trailer means the driver always has the basics. Specialist supports, such as for a catamaran, are better kept centrally and reserved per run. A combination of a fixed base and a shared reserve avoids having to equip every trailer fully.
Leaving stands behind or taking them
When a boat is delivered to winter storage, it sometimes stays on your stands until spring. That suits the owner, but means those stands are unavailable for months. Leaving them is fine as long as it is recorded and perhaps charged. Otherwise the depot ends up short of exactly the gear it needs in autumn.
Own checks or formal inspection
A visual check of straps after each run catches most problems. Lifting gear often needs periodic inspection by a competent person. The software tracks both: the driver's routine check and the periodic inspection with its date and report. A sling past its inspection date is flagged.

Cradles, keel blocks, lifting slings and straps are registered in the depot and on the trailers; the planner reserves per trip and check ins are processed. At the start we take over your list per trailer. We rehearse an ordinary autumn week and a case where stands are left behind at a storage site. Inspection dates with reminders, a fixed set per trailer as a departure checklist and settling equipment left behind can be switched on later.

Explore pricing and optionsDo we need to register each strap individually?
Not necessarily. Straps can be registered as a set, for example per trailer. Lifting slings subject to inspection are better recorded individually, so each sling's check is visible. What makes sense depends on how many you have and how often they go missing.
How do we know where our stands are?
On every run the driver records whether stands were left behind and where. They then remain visible as off site, with the location and the boat owner. When collected in spring, they are checked back in. The depot knows which stands are available come autumn.
Can the planner see which supports suit a boat?
Yes, if the required support has been recorded per boat type. For a keelboat, keel blocks and side stands appear; for a catamaran, the right width. The planner reserves them with the run, and the driver sees in the job card what to take along.
What if a strap gets damaged during a run?
The driver reports it in the job card with a photo. The strap is removed from available stock immediately and flagged for checking or replacement. The planner sees there is one fewer and can reserve an alternative for upcoming runs.
