Business supplies and services: Inventory software for wayfinding companies
Inventory software for wayfinding companies that tracks sign supports, profiles, fasteners and spare strips per project and mounting system, so fitters leave with complete kits.
Where stock drifts for wayfinding companies.
Wayfinding companies work with many small parts that belong to a specific mounting system: stand-offs in different lengths, ceiling cables, end caps, cut-to-size profiles and plugs for concrete or hollow walls. There are also sign supports such as posts and totems, blank profiles and spare strips for existing projects. A fitter who discovers on site that the glass stand-offs have run out loses half a day. At the same time materials sit waiting for projects not yet in production, without it being clear what is free. Spare strips for a client who changes often are somewhere in a box nobody can find.

Record parts per mounting system
Each mounting system gets a list of parts needed per sign, such as stand-offs, cables and end caps. From a sign schedule the software calculates which parts a project needs based on sign type and surface. It is clear in advance what must be reserved or ordered.
Reserve per project and series
On quote approval the software reserves the parts needed from own stock or flags what must be ordered. For each installation day the warehouse assembles a kit per location series. A series with missing parts is flagged so the planner can step in.
Update usage and spares
After installation the fitter reports what was used and what comes back. Leftovers are booked back in. Spare strips and extra signs for a client are stored separately with their name, project and location codes, so they can be found straight away for a later change.
Alongside your purchasing and suppliers.
Parts and sign supports are bought from suppliers of sign systems and fixings, who remain the owners of their product data and lead times. The inventory software tracks what is in your own warehouse. The sign schedule and quote supply the demand per project. A scanner or phone records goods in and goods out. Production uses the same stock for profiles and blank signs, so both departments see the same figure.
Base stock or order per project
A base stock of commonly used parts avoids waiting for deliveries, but ties up money and space. Ordering per project keeps stock low, but makes you dependent on lead times. The software shows which parts are needed often and which rarely, so you can decide part by part.
Keep spare strips or remake them
Keeping spare strips with a project makes a change quick and cheap, but needs storage space and admin. Remaking them every time is simpler, but costs more per change and can be awkward if the material is no longer available. For clients who change often, keeping spares with a clear location pays off.
Pre-pack kits or count on site
Pre-packing kits per location series in the warehouse takes preparation time, but prevents shortages on site. Letting fitters count from a large stock in the van is quicker, but produces more surprises. For large projects with many location series a pre-packed kit is almost always the better choice.
Which stock we record.
Parts per mounting system are in stock from the start; demand follows from the sign schedule, with reservation per project and kits per location series. Together we replay an ordinary installation week, and a project for which a supplier delivers fewer standoffs than ordered. Managing spare strips per client and a minimum stock with an alert for the parts fitters most often run short of are switched on when you want them.

Explore pricing and optionsHow does the software know which parts a sign needs?
For each mounting system and surface you record which parts each sign requires. The sign schedule holds the type and surface for every sign. From that the software calculates the total demand per project. If a sign is an exception, the project manager can adjust its parts by hand.
Can fitters see what is in the van?
If the van is tracked as a location, yes. Fitters then see which parts they have with them and what they need for the next series. What they use, they book out. That keeps the figures in the warehouse and in the van reliable.
What do we do with spare strips for existing clients?
They are stored with the client's name, the project and the location codes they are meant for. When a change request comes in, the project manager sees whether spares exist. That speeds up delivery and avoids making new strips unnecessarily.
Do we have to count everything before we start?
Not necessarily. You can start with the parts that most often run short and add the rest during quieter moments. Anything not yet counted is marked as uncertain, so nobody plans an installation day on a figure that is wrong.

- Website for wayfinding companiesA website for wayfinding companies that explains sign types, mounting systems and how a wayfinding project runs to building managers, architects and developers who have choices to make.
- Enquiry form for wayfinding companiesAn enquiry form for wayfinding companies that collects the location list, sign text, floor plans and wall surfaces, so the project manager can judge what a project really involves.
