Repairs and specialist services: Operations dashboard for shoe repair shops
An operations dashboard for shoe repair shops that shows repeat repairs by material, alongside missed completion dates and pairs left sitting on the collection rack.
Which figures shoe repair shops really need.
Shoe repairers notice that some pairs come back, but rarely know why. Is it the sole material, the way it was fixed, or a customer who walks a lot on hard ground? Do rubber heel tips from one supplier return sooner than others? Without an overview it stays a feeling, and purchasing follows whatever was always bought. Meanwhile pairs that have been ready for months take up space on the collection rack, and completion dates are missed without it being clear whether busy periods, materials or a particular type of repair are to blame.

From scattered figures to one overview.
Agree definitions
First we agree what a repeat repair is: the same pair with the same type of repair within a period you choose. We also define a missed completion date and when a pair counts as uncollected. Without those agreements the dashboard would be adding up different things.
Link tickets and materials
The dashboard draws on the repair tickets, recorded materials and till transactions. Per material you see how many repairs were done and how many came back. Per type of repair you see how often the completion date was met. Every figure leads back to the tickets.
Dig into deviations
If a certain heel tip comes back more often, you click through to the tickets and see whether it involves one supplier, one repairer or one kind of shoe. The dashboard draws no conclusion, but gets you quickly to the pairs that matter, so you can talk to the supplier or a colleague.
Figures from your own work.
The data comes from what is already recorded: repair tickets with pair references, material use and till transactions. Nothing extra needs entering for the dashboard, except that the repairer marks a return as the same repair. The till remains the source for revenue, the tickets for repeat repairs and completion dates, and stock for materials and suppliers. Each figure keeps a link to the record it came from.
Repeat repair as fault or wear
A pair that comes back after a good while for new heel tips has simply been worn. A heel that comes loose soon after is a sign of a problem. So the dashboard shows the time between repairs and the reason the repairer records, letting you tell normal wear apart from repairs that did not hold.
By material or by supplier
By material you see which kind of sole or heel comes back most. By supplier you see whether the same material from one source performs worse than from another. Both help with purchasing. The dashboard uses material as the main grouping, with supplier as a filter you can switch on when a pattern appears.
Making uncollected pairs visible
Pairs that sit on the rack for a long time are work done but not paid for, and they take up space. A list showing each pair's age and whether a reminder has been sent helps with clearing out. What you do with such a pair after a long period remains your call and depends on what was agreed at intake.

The dashboard shows repeat repairs by material with their reason, the share of completion dates met per type of repair and a list of uncollected pairs, each traceable to the tickets. Which reasons you use is recorded at the start. Together we look at an ordinary month and at a period in which a new kind of heel tip was introduced. Comparisons per supplier and working time per type of repair can be added when you need them.
View pricingSupport and updatesGood to know.
Explore pricing and optionsDoes the repairer have to fill in anything extra for the dashboard?
Only when a pair returns: one choice from a short list giving the reason, such as wear, came loose or another problem. Everything else comes from the repair ticket. It takes hardly any time and makes the repeat repair figures usable.
Can we tell whether a new material is better?
Yes, given time. When you start using a new sole or heel tip, you see per material how many pairs came back and after how long. You compare on the basis of your own work rather than the supplier's claims.
How do we know the figures are right?
Every figure is clickable and shows the tickets behind it. If something looks off, you can see whether a ticket was filled in wrongly or the definition does not fit. In the first weeks we check this together against pairs you know yourselves.
Does the dashboard show how much money is sitting on the rack?
It shows for each uncollected pair whether the repair has been paid and what is outstanding according to the ticket. Together that gives a picture of what is still to come in. The accounting package remains the source for what has actually been received.
