Repairs and specialist services: AI enquiry assistant for shoe repair shops
An AI enquiry assistant for shoe repair shops that answers questions about repair options and opening hours from approved guidance, and passes a photo to the repairer when someone asks whether their pair can be saved.
Which questions shoe repair shops keep getting.
The question shoe repair shops hear most is whether something can be fixed. Can this trainer get a new sole, can the heel on these court shoes be replaced, can a zip go into a leather boot? Then come questions about opening hours, whether you can wait or need to drop off, and what a half sole costs. Every phone call interrupts the repairer. Yet without seeing the pair you often cannot give an honest answer: the same trainer may have a moulded sole or one that can be replaced. An assistant that says yes by default sends customers into the shop only to be disappointed.

Set the sources
The repairer decides what guidance the assistant may use: what can generally be repaired per shoe type, the fixed price list, opening hours, which repairs can be done while you wait. They read and approve the text. Anything not in it, the assistant does not answer.
General or a specific pair
The assistant recognises whether someone is asking something general or about their own pair. General questions, such as what a half sole is or how long a resole usually takes according to the shop, it answers from the approved text. For a question about a specific pair it asks for a photo of the sole and the damage.
Answer or hand over
For a general question the assistant gives the answer with a next step, such as opening hours. For a specific pair it passes the question and photo to the repairer, and says plainly that the repairer will reply personally about whether it can be done. The repairer sees the photo and the customer's story together.
On your own information, with a person behind it.
The approved text comes from the website, the price list on the wall and the explanations the repairer often gives at the counter. Handed over questions with photos arrive in the inbox or request list you already use. The assistant has no access to repair tickets or customer details unless you deliberately switch on status through the portal later. The shop owns the text and updates it when prices or opening hours change.
Mention prices or not
The assistant can give fixed prices for heel tips and half soles if they are in the approved text. For anything that needs an assessment, such as a full resole on welted shoes, it names no figure. Customers get something to go on for simple work without a promise on custom jobs that might not hold once the pair is on the bench.
Ask for a photo or hand over directly
A photo of the sole makes it much easier for the repairer to answer. But not every visitor wants to or can send one. The assistant asks for it, and still hands the question over without a photo, noting that the repairer will be able to say less without seeing the pair.
Leather goods too or shoes only
If you repair bags, belts and jackets, questions about those will come in too. A separate set of approved answers for leather goods keeps things clear. You can start with shoes and add leather goods once you see which questions arrive; until then the assistant simply hands every bag or belt question to the repairer.

With explanations you have approved, the assistant answers questions about repair options per shoe type, the fixed price list and opening hours; for every question about a specific pair it hands over to the repairer. We put those explanations in order at the start. Together we try an ordinary question about the price of a half sole, and a question about resoling a trainer, where the assistant asks for a photo and hands over. Leather goods questions and status questions through the portal can be switched on afterwards.

Explore pricing and optionsCan the assistant tell me whether my shoes can be repaired?
Not on its own. It explains what is generally possible for that kind of shoe and asks for a photo, which it forwards to the repairer. The repairer replies personally about whether it can be done. The customer gets an honest answer rather than a guess.
What if someone asks how long a repair takes?
The assistant gives what you have put in the approved text, for instance that heel tips can usually be done while you wait and resoles take longer. It does not give a specific completion date; that follows at intake based on what is in the workshop.
Can we read back what the assistant said?
Yes. Every conversation is stored with the source of the answer. If something is wrong, you correct the source. Handed over questions sit in a separate list, so you can see which topics keep coming up and where an extra answer would help.
Does the assistant give shoe care advice?
Only if you approve text for it, such as how to protect leather soles from damp. It will not advise on a specific damaged pair; it refers those to the shop. The advice stays general and always holds.
