Outdoor spaces and grounds: Operations dashboard for playground builders
An operations dashboard for playground builders that shows snags at handover by project, type, installation crew and equipment model, so recurring causes and blocks on final invoicing stand out.
Which figures playground builders really need.
When a play area is handed over, playground builders are often left with snags: a missing cap, surfacing that is not level, an inspector's remark about a clearance zone, a part the manufacturer still has to supply. Each item is dealt with, but nobody sees whether certain equipment models keep producing the same snags, whether one crew forgets things more often, or whether projects wait weeks on a single part. Meanwhile an open snag sometimes holds up the final invoice. Snags sit in emails, on job cards and in inspection reports, so the picture only emerges once a client complains.

From scattered figures to one overview.
Agree the types of snag
First we set the kinds of snag, such as installation, surfacing, delivery, inspection remark and damage, and when a snag counts as closed. We also decide who may close one: the crew leader, the work planner or only after the client confirms. Without that, numbers mean little.
Link snags to projects and equipment
Every snag is linked to the project, the piece and the crew that installed it. Inspection reports are read in or transcribed, so the inspector's remarks also appear as snags. Items without a link are shown separately so they do not vanish from view.
Look at patterns and blockers
The dashboard shows which kinds of snag occur most, for which models and crews, and how long they stay open. Projects whose final invoice is waiting on snags sit at the top. Clicking through shows the job card and photos, so you can tell whether it is an installation, delivery or design issue.
Figures from your own work.
Snags currently sit on job cards, in client emails and in reports from the inspection body. The dashboard reads those sources and writes nothing back. The work planner owns snags, the inspection body its reports and the office the invoice status. A source that can only provide an export is imported periodically, with the date of the last update shown so you always know how fresh the picture is.
Look per crew or per equipment model
Looking per crew shows whether a crew forgets things more often, but a crew given the hardest projects then looks worse. Looking per model shows whether a piece keeps generating the same snags, which often points to a manual or a delivery problem. Both help, as long as you weigh the cause.
All snags or only blocking ones
Counting every snag gives a full picture, but a missing cap weighs differently from an inspection remark that keeps the site closed. A marker for blocking items shows which need attention now. The dashboard shows both, with blocking items first, so nothing urgent drowns in the list.
Lead time or count as the measure
The number of snags says something about the quality of installation and delivery. The lead time says something about follow-up and client satisfaction. A project with one snag open for months is worse than one with five resolved the same week, which is why both measures appear side by side.

Snags sit in the dashboard per order and piece, and can be viewed by type, crew and model, with lead time and blocks on the final invoice. Items not attached to anything are visible from the start, so the picture stays honest. Together we look at an ordinary month and the busy period after the summer holidays, when many school playgrounds are handed over at once. Adding inspection reports and an overview for talks with manufacturers comes later.

Explore pricing and optionsCan we see which manufacturer causes the most delivery snags?
Yes, if delivery snags are linked to the piece and its manufacturer. The overview then shows per manufacturer how often parts are missing or late. With job cards and photos attached, you have a well-supported conversation.
What if snags are never closed in the system?
Snags that stay open for a long time without activity are flagged separately. Often they were resolved in practice but never signed off. The dashboard makes that visible, so the work planner can check whether the item really is still open.
Can clients see their own snags?
A client can see the snags on their own projects through the customer portal, with status and expected resolution. Internal details such as crew names and causes stay in the dashboard for the company itself. What the client sees is set per project.
How does this help with invoicing?
Projects whose final invoice waits on snags sit at the top, with the number of open items and how long they have been open. The office sees which invoices can go once an item is resolved, and the work planner can set priorities.

- Digital job cards for playground buildersDigital job cards for playground builders with a placement plan showing equipment, clearance zones and dimensioned foundations, where the installation crew records what was actually built.
- Website for playground buildersA website for playground builders where councils, schools and parks compare equipment by age and play value, with material options and the space each piece needs including its clearance zone.
- Enquiry form for playground buildersAn enquiry form for playground builders that asks for a site plan, user group, existing surfacing and obstacles, so the designer knows beforehand what fits on a site.
