Design and creative production: Customer portal for model makers
A customer portal for model makers where clients view progress photos, approve detail choices and upload drawing revisions, without images and approvals scattering across email attachments.
What customers of model makers want to see.
Clients of model makers like to see how their model is coming along, especially when a jury presentation or sales launch depends on it. Today progress photos go by email or messaging app to one contact, who forwards them to colleagues. A project architect responds to last week's photo, a partner wants the terrain colour changed, and the developer paying the bill never sees the photos at all. New drawings arrive through a different route and are not always linked to the right model. At delivery it is unclear who approved which detail choice, and arguments start over a colour or finish that was never explicitly agreed.

Invite the people involved
For each model the workshop decides who can view and who approves. A project architect can comment; the partner or client approves detail choices. A developer who only wants to follow progress gets view access. Everyone knows their role and no approval gets lost in a forwarded email.
Show progress and choices
The portal shows the latest progress photos per model, with a short note on the current stage. Detail choices needing approval, such as a colour sample, a facade test or the shape of the trees, are listed separately with a clear question. Earlier photos remain available, so the client sees the model take shape.
Receive revisions and responses
Clients can upload new drawing revisions in the portal, with a short note on what changed. The revision lands directly on the model and is visible to the workshop. Responses to detail choices are bundled, so the approver has the full picture before deciding.
Less email, the same records.
Clients work with their own project folders and sometimes a shared environment for drawings. The portal does not replace those; it is where the model itself is followed. Drawings arriving via an architecture practice's shared folder can be linked to the model. The workshop takes progress photos on a phone and puts them straight into the portal. The client owns drawings and approvals; the workshop owns the photos and the model until delivery.
Fixed photo moments or continuous sharing
Fixed moments, for example after the terrain and after the main building, give calm and a clear rhythm. Continuous sharing lets the client follow along but can prompt reactions to unfinished stages. A combination often works: fixed moments with an approval question, and an occasional photo in between without one.
One approver or joint approval
With an architecture practice and its design team, a single approver is fastest. When architect and developer work together, both sometimes want to sign off on colour or finish. The portal can set per detail choice who needs to approve, so everyone knows when a choice is settled.
Photos with or without watermark
Progress photos of a competition model are confidential. A watermark stops them being shared unintentionally but gets in the way of judging colour and detail. For confidential projects the portal can show photos only to logged-in users, without a download option. After the result is announced that restriction can be lifted.

Per model, clients see progress photos and detail choices, approve per choice and upload drawing revisions with notes. We choose the first clients in consultation, and we play out an architect acting as the only contact and a project where both architect and developer must approve. The build cards in the portal and a delivery overview with all approvals are switched on after that.

Explore pricing and optionsCan clients download photos for their own presentations?
You decide per model. For confidential projects you can disable downloads until the client gives permission. After delivery you can release professional final photos for use in presentations, with agreements on credits if you want them.
How do we stop people responding to an outdated photo?
The portal shows the newest photos at the top and marks older ones as an earlier stage. Responses to an old photo are labelled as such, so the workshop knows whether the point has already been dealt with. Detail choices have their own status, separate from the photos.
Can the client send new drawings through the portal?
Yes. An upload in the portal is linked straight to the model, with a note on what changed. The workshop sees there is a new revision and which components may be affected. A revision no longer gets stuck in someone's inbox.
What happens to the portal after delivery?
It stays available as an archive with final photos, approvals and drawing revisions. If the client later asks for an adjustment or a second copy, everything is there. A follow-up project can use the same portal.
