Transport and delivery: Inventory software for delivery and assembly operators
Inventory software for delivery and assembly operators that tracks which assembly kits, tools and spare fittings are in the warehouse and the vans, and what is reserved for each order.
Where stock drifts for delivery and assembly operators.
An assembly job can fail over a bag of screws. Delivery and assembly operators receive items from the shop, but the fittings in the box are not always complete or go missing during unpacking. Crews therefore carry spare fittings, hinges, plugs and wall anchors in the van, but nobody knows exactly how many or which kinds. Tools such as a hammer drill for concrete or a long spirit level move from van to van too. A crew arriving at a concrete wall without a suitable drill leaves the wall cabinet unhung, and the consumer gets an outstanding item that need not have happened.

Record kits and spare fittings
The warehouse and each van hold a set stock of assembly kits, spare fittings and tools. For each type of fitting, such as hinges from a certain brand or wall anchors for plasterboard, the quantity is recorded. At the start of the day the crew confirms what is on board, and a shortfall shows up immediately.
Reserve for the day's orders
For the day's orders, the software works out which fittings and tools are needed, based on the items and the home situation. An order with a concrete wall reserves a hammer drill; an order with a particular wardrobe system reserves the matching hinges. The crew sees what to collect from the warehouse.
Update use after assembly
After each job, the crew records on the assembly job card which spare fittings were used. Van stock is updated, and a shortfall triggers a top-up task for the warehouse. Fittings that are often missing for a particular item become visible for the conversation with the retailer.
Alongside your purchasing and suppliers.
Spare fittings currently sit in bins in the warehouse and loose boxes in the vans, unrecorded. The retailer's items are tracked in its system or your own warehouse system. The inventory software focuses on the operator's own fittings and tools, not on the shop's items. The warehouse manager owns the stock; crews record use. Parts the shop needs to replace go through outstanding items.
Count every screw or per kit
Counting every screw is impossible. Tracking per kit or per pack is workable, with separate records for pricier parts such as hinges and wardrobe lighting. The crew marks a kit as opened or empty, and the warehouse tops up based on those reports instead of a full count.
Fixed van stock or packed daily
A fixed stock per van is convenient, but means a lot of fittings driving around and ageing. Packing daily based on the orders is more economical, but takes time in the morning. Many operators combine a fixed base in the van with order-specific parts set out each day.
Top up missing shop fittings or not
If fittings are missing from the shop's box, the crew can top them up from its own stock or leave it as an outstanding item. Topping up helps the consumer straight away, but costs the operator parts the shop should have supplied. Recording it and settling with the retailer stops this quietly costing money.

Assembly kits, spare fittings and tools are held in stock per warehouse and per van. An order reserves what it needs, and the count is updated after every job. We enter the opening stock per van together. Putting it to the test: an ordinary day of wardrobes and beds, and an order that needs a hammer drill and special hinges that are sitting in another van. Top-up tasks and settling topped-up fittings with retailers come in when you are ready for them.

Explore pricing and optionsDoes the crew have to count all van stock every day?
No, only confirm that the parts for that day's orders are on board. A full count can happen periodically, for example when the van is cleaned. In between, use recorded on the job card keeps stock reasonably current.
Can we see which items are often missing fittings?
Yes. Every time the crew tops up fittings because they were missing from the box, it is recorded against the item. An overview shows which items are most often incomplete. That gives a concrete conversation with the retailer about their supplier.
What if a tool breaks during assembly?
The crew reports it on the job card, and the tool is marked unavailable. The planner sees whether another crew nearby has the right tool, and the warehouse gets a notice for repair or replacement.
Does this also cover the shop's items?
The items themselves stay in the shop's system or your warehouse system. The inventory software focuses on what you use to assemble. An order can, however, show whether the items are ready, if that system passes on the status.
