Construction and installation: AI enquiry assistant for EV charger installers
An AI enquiry assistant for EV charger installers that answers questions about activating charge cards, the app and first use with approved information, and passes faults on.
Which questions EV charger installers keep getting.
After handover, customers of EV charger installers mostly call about activation: how do I link my charge card, why will charging not start, which app should I download, how do I get reimbursed by my employer. Many of those questions are really about the management provider, not the installation. Still they land with the office, which has to know how it works per brand and per provider. Among the activation questions are genuine faults: a charger that switches off, a residual current device that trips. An assistant that makes up advice about electrical installations or makes promises on a provider's behalf only makes things harder.

Approved sources per provider
The assistant works only with information you have approved: activation steps per management provider, manuals for the chargers you install and answers the office gives often. Each source is tagged by brand and provider, so a customer on one platform never gets the steps for another.
Link the question to the charger
When the customer gives their charger ID or address, or signs in through the portal, the assistant knows which charger and provider apply. A question about linking a card then gets the right steps. Without those details, the assistant asks first before giving an answer.
Answer or pass on
With a fault, a question about the electrical installation or anything not in the sources, the assistant gives no advice but creates a request. Questions only the provider can answer, such as tariffs or a blocked card, are referred on with the right contact details. The customer knows exactly who to turn to.
On your own information, with a person behind it.
Questions now come in by phone, email and the contact form. The assistant sits on the website or in the customer portal and uses documents you already have, plus the public guidance of the management providers you work with. Requests go to the office inbox or service system. You own the sources and decide per topic whether the assistant answers or refers. Conversations are stored for review.
Answer provider questions or refer them
Activation steps are often public and the assistant can explain them perfectly well. Questions about an individual account, a payment or a blocked card can only be solved by the provider. Record which topics the assistant may explain itself and which go straight to the provider, with a short explanation to the customer of why.
General information or per charger
On the public website the assistant can only answer in general terms. In the portal it knows the charger and provider and can help specifically. Start with the most common general questions and extend to per-charger answers once charger ID registration is reliable. Until then, general answers are fine.
Customer restarts or report straight away
Restarting a charger through the app is a safe first step found in many manuals. Touching the fuse box, such as switching a circuit back on, is better left to a person. Decide per action whether the assistant may mention it, and pass on anything involving the installation.

What the AI assistant may answer.
The assistant gets approved steps for linking charge cards and first use with the providers you work with most; that is its only source. Before it goes live, we ask an ordinary question about a card that is not recognised together, and report a charger that keeps switching off: that report it should hand over to a colleague. Per-charger answers through the client portal are switched on later.

Explore pricing and optionsCan the assistant activate a charge card?
No. It explains the steps the customer needs to take with the provider, or refers to the provider when it concerns an account. Activation happens in the provider's system. The assistant has no access to it and makes no promises about it.
What does the assistant say when a residual current device trips?
It gives no technical advice but creates a request for the office with the charger details and what the customer described. If your approved text includes safety advice, such as not using the charger until an electrician has visited, it repeats that.
How do we keep provider information up to date?
The sources per provider have an owner in your company and a date of last review. When a provider changes its app or process, that owner updates the text. Questions the assistant cannot answer are often the first sign that a source is out of date.
Can employers use the assistant too?
Yes, for general questions about the process, such as how drivers are registered or how scheduling works according to your own explanation. Questions about specific drivers or invoices are passed to the office or the portal.
