Transport and delivery: Scheduling software for cycle logistics operators
Scheduling software for cycle logistics operators that matches cargo bikes, riders and delivery rounds, treating load space and battery range as hard limits on every round.
What makes scheduling hard for cycle logistics operators.
In cycle logistics, every round is limited by what physically fits in the box and how far a battery will go. A planner who sorts stops by address alone only discovers while loading at the hub that the crates do not fit, or that a rider has to come back halfway to swap. Add shops that only accept goods before opening and pedestrian zones closed at certain hours. At many cycle logistics operators, this knowledge lives with one experienced planner. When that person is off or a rider calls in sick, rounds are reshuffled on instinct and stops are left behind without the shipper hearing about it.

Load stops with their volume
Each day, stops arrive from shippers' ordering systems or manual entry, with the number of crates or parcels per address and any windows. Stops without volume or with an incomplete address are kept aside. The planner sees how much cargo sits in each zone before building a single round.
Fill rounds per cargo bike
Each cargo bike or trailer has a known load space and range. The planner distributes stops across rounds and sees immediately when a round is full or its distance approaches battery range. A second round for the same rider can be scheduled with a reload at the hub in between.
Reshuffle when someone drops out
If a rider calls in sick or a bike has a flat, the planner marks that round as unstaffed. The system shows which stops have windows that must still be met today and which other rounds have room. The planner reallocates deliberately, and stops that truly cannot fit become visible to customer service.
Alongside your calendar and your team.
Cycle logistics operators often receive jobs as exports from online stores, a wholesaler's order portal or emails from small shops. We decide which source leads for stops and import it without retyping. Riders usually carry a phone with a delivery app or a simple list, and the round sheet connects to that. Bike and battery data comes from the workshop or hub manager's records. The planner keeps ownership of the final allocation.
Fixed neighbourhood rounds or daily allocation
With fixed rounds per neighbourhood, riders get to know their patch and deliveries run predictably. With swinging volumes, though, overloaded and half-empty rounds appear side by side. Daily allocation uses capacity better but asks more of the planner. A hybrid with fixed core areas and flexible edges often works well in a city.
One long round or several short ones
A long round with a trailer saves trips back to the hub but goes off balance more quickly when a stop was misjudged. Several short rounds with reloading in between add flexibility and make lighter bikes usable. The choice depends on the distance between hub and delivery area. Scheduling supports both and shows what each costs in riding time.
Planner decides or system suggests
A suggestion based on volume and distance helps on busy days, but the planner knows which streets are dug up and which shop always opens late. So the system suggests and the planner decides. Adjustments are kept, so recurring corrections can later be built into the standard rules.

Stops with volume arrive in planning, rounds are filled per cargo bike on load space and range, and when a rider drops out you move stops across. At the start we record your bikes, zones and riders. We rehearse an ordinary Tuesday together and a morning on which two bikes are in the workshop at once. Reading orders straight from large shippers' systems and sending rounds automatically to riders are switched on once the planners are ready for it.

Explore pricing and optionsDoes scheduling account for battery range?
Yes. Each bike has its usable range recorded, optionally with a margin for cold days or heavy loads. The planner sees when a round gets close to it. A swap at the hub can be added as a stop, so a rider is never stranded mid-round without power.
Can we include pedestrian zones and access times?
Yes. You can record per zone or street when deliveries are allowed. Stops in such an area are only suggested for a round that reaches it at the right time. That keeps riders from arriving at a closed shopping street with a full box.
What if a shipper adds stops in the morning?
Late stops join the same list, flagged as arriving after planning closed. The planner sees which rounds still have space and can add them or push them to the next day. Whatever is decided is recorded, so the shipper can check it later.
Do riders need a dedicated app?
Not necessarily. If you already use a delivery app that can receive a round list, we connect to it. If not, riders get a simple phone screen with stops in order. We decide which option works best based on a trial round.

- Website for cycle logistics operatorsA website for cycle logistics operators that shows, zone by zone, what a cargo bike can deliver, so shippers can judge for themselves whether their goods are a fit.
- Enquiry form for cycle logistics operatorsAn enquiry form for cycle logistics operators that asks for parcel volume, urban zone and delivery windows, so the planner can see at once whether a job is rideable.
