Transport and delivery: Operations dashboard for cycle logistics operators
An operations dashboard for cycle logistics operators that shows stops per round, battery usage and failed deliveries, with the source behind every deviation.
Which figures cycle logistics operators really need.
The owner of a cycle logistics operator wants to know whether rounds are efficient, but the figures are scattered. How many stops does a city centre round manage compared with one on the outskirts? Why do some batteries run down sooner? Which shipper has consistently more failed deliveries? Without a dashboard, these questions are answered with the planner's impressions or a spreadsheet updated once a quarter. It is also often unclear what a stop actually is: does a combined drop at two shops in one building count as one or two? If that definition is not fixed, you end up comparing apples with oranges.

Agree the definitions
DoneBefore any chart appears, we agree exactly what a stop, a round, a failed delivery and a return are.
- 2
Pull data from the floor
In progressThe dashboard takes stops and statuses from the job card, rounds from planning and battery data from inventory records.
- 3
Trace the deviations
NextIf a round stands out, say far fewer stops than usual, you can click through to that round and its stops with their statuses.
From scattered figures to one overview.
Agree the definitions
Before any chart appears, we agree exactly what a stop, a round, a failed delivery and a return are. We also fix how battery usage is measured: per round, per distance ridden or per charge. Those definitions sit inside the dashboard, so everyone reads the numbers the same way.
Pull data from the floor
The dashboard takes stops and statuses from the job card, rounds from planning and battery data from inventory records. Nothing is retyped by hand. Where a source is still missing, such as charge levels nobody records, that is shown as a known limitation rather than an empty chart.
Trace the deviations
If a round stands out, say far fewer stops than usual, you can click through to that round and its stops with their statuses. You then see whether a street was closed, a rider was new or a shipper had many addresses outside the core zone. The dashboard points; people draw the conclusion.
Figures from your own work.
Round and stop data comes from planning and job cards, batteries and bikes from inventory, and any financial figures from the accounting package. The dashboard reads from those sources without replacing them. Existing spreadsheets with historical counts can be imported once as a reference. Ownership of each number stays with the system where it originates; the dashboard is only a window onto them.
One overview or views per role
An owner wants monthly trends per shipper, a planner wants to know which rounds went off track yesterday and a hub manager looks at batteries and bikes. One dashboard for everyone soon becomes cluttered. Separate views per role, fed from the same source, keep it usable without the numbers drifting apart.
Daily glance or periodic review
A daily look at failed deliveries helps you act quickly on a problem address. Trends in battery usage or stops per round only become meaningful after a few weeks. We separate signals you want to see today from analysis you discuss monthly, so the dashboard does not keep raising alarms.
Comparing riders or comparing rounds
Comparing stops per rider seems logical, but whoever has the hardest patch will always score lower. Comparing rounds by area and volume gives a fairer picture. Individual performance is better discussed in conversation than displayed on a screen, so the dashboard mainly shows rounds and zones.

The dashboard shows stops per round, failed deliveries per shipper and battery use per bike, with fixed definitions and drill down to the source. We agree those definitions with you at the start. We set the figures of a quiet week next to a week of bad weather in which rounds took longer, and check whether they match what the planner expects. Views per role and a monthly overview for the owner can be switched on later.

Explore pricing and optionsHow much historical data do we need?
You can start as soon as planning and job cards produce data. Trends become more reliable week by week. If you have old spreadsheets with counts, we can import them for comparison, but the dashboard does not wait for that.
Can we see which streets cause problems often?
Yes. Failed deliveries and long stop times can be grouped by address or street. That shows where a loading spot is missing or a shop is always shut. Whether you plan that street differently or raise it with the shipper is your decision.
What does battery usage mean if we do not measure it?
If charge levels are not recorded, the dashboard cannot show them. We then start with what is available, such as the number of swaps per round, and label it as an approximation. A simple check-in after each round makes the picture more precise from there.
Can shippers look at the dashboard too?
The dashboard is for internal use. If you want to give shippers an overview of their own deliveries, the portal is the right place. There they see their own figures without insight into other clients or internal performance per round.
What often connects to this.
- Digital job cards for cycle logistics operatorsDigital job cards for cycle logistics operators: a round list with stop instructions on the rider's phone, including proof of delivery and return logging at every address.
- Website for cycle logistics operatorsA website for cycle logistics operators that shows, zone by zone, what a cargo bike can deliver, so shippers can judge for themselves whether their goods are a fit.
- Enquiry form for cycle logistics operatorsAn enquiry form for cycle logistics operators that asks for parcel volume, urban zone and delivery windows, so the planner can see at once whether a job is rideable.
