Repairs and specialist services: AI enquiry assistant for watchmakers
An AI enquiry assistant for watchmakers that answers questions about repair status, maintenance and drop-off from approved information and brings in the watchmaker as soon as a question needs judgement.
Which questions watchmakers keep getting.
Most questions watchmakers receive are about status: is my watch ready, when will the part arrive, why is it taking so long. General questions come back too: how often does an automatic need a service, can I swim with my watch, why is it running fast after a knock. Each one pulls the watchmaker away from the bench. Some questions have no general answer, such as whether a watch can still be saved after water damage. An assistant that invents something reassuring there could lead an owner to wait while the movement keeps corroding.

Choose approved information
The workshop decides which text the assistant uses: maintenance guidance per movement type, what water resistance means and when it should be tested, how drop-off works, which brands you service. The watchmaker reads and approves it all. The assistant does not use information outside that text.
Status or general question
The assistant recognises whether someone is asking about their own watch or wants general information. For a status question it asks for the file number and, if the portal is switched on, shows the stage as recorded in the file. General questions are answered from the approved text, with the source given.
Hand over when judgement is needed
Questions that need a judgement, such as whether a watch can be repaired after moisture or what a service will cost, go to the watchmaker. For moisture the assistant does give the approved advice to bring the watch in quickly. The watchmaker receives the question along with what the visitor already said.
On your own information, with a person behind it.
The approved text comes from what the workshop already has: maintenance guidance on the site, warranty terms and answers that often go out by email. Status information only comes from the movement files through the portal, and only for people who identify themselves with a file number or sign-in. Handed over questions arrive in the inbox or request list you already use. The workshop owns all the text and updates it when something changes.
Answer status questions or hand over
Status questions are the most common, and the assistant can answer them if it may read the stage from the file. That needs secure identification, such as a file number with surname or a sign-in. If you are not ready to switch that on, the assistant hands status questions over with the file number attached, so looking them up is quick.
Give water resistance advice or refer
Questions about swimming or showering with a watch come up often. General advice, such as that water resistance declines over time and should be tested periodically, can be approved by the workshop. A statement about a specific watch can only follow a test. The assistant gives the general advice and offers a test.
For jewellers too or private owners only
Jewellers ask different things, about sending work, consolidated invoices or their files. A separate set of approved answers for jewellers keeps the assistant clear for private owners. You can start with private owners and add jeweller questions once it is clear which come up often; the handover list shows that within a few weeks.

The assistant answers questions about maintenance, water resistance, drop-off and warranty with text you have approved, and hands any question needing a judgement or a price to the watchmaker. We draw up that text together at the start. Before launch we try an ordinary question about how often an automatic needs servicing, and a report of moisture under the crystal. Status questions through the portal and answers for jewellers can be switched on afterwards.

Explore pricing and optionsCan the assistant tell me when my watch will be ready?
Only if the portal is switched on and the customer identifies themselves. It then gives the stage from the file and a ready date if one is recorded. Without the portal it hands the question over with the file number, so the watchmaker can answer quickly.
What does the assistant say when someone has moisture in their watch?
It gives the advice you have approved, for example not to open the watch and to bring it in as soon as possible. It then hands the question over with an urgent flag. It does not estimate whether the watch can be saved.
Does the assistant quote prices for repairs?
Only fixed prices you have put in the approved text, such as a battery change with test. For full services it explains that the price follows the assessment and offers to start a request. It makes no estimates based on brand or age.
Can we see which questions it could not answer?
Yes. Handed over questions appear in a list with their topic. If a topic keeps coming up, you can write an approved answer for it. The source grows with what owners actually want to know.
