Construction and installation: Quotation software for insulation contractors
Quotation software for insulation contractors that calculates layer thickness, area and preparation per part of the home, with the work boundaries from the survey built into the proposal.
Where quotes for insulation contractors get stuck.
The price of insulation depends on more than square metres. For floor insulation it matters whether the whole crawl space is reachable or part disappears behind a foundation wall, whether pipes need shielding and whether the ground has to be cleared first. For cavity walls, cavity width and the number of drill holes set the amount of material and time. Insulation contractors pricing per square metre run into disputes when part of the crawl space turned out unreachable and was never insulated. The owner thought the whole floor was included, and the quote said nothing about limits.

Area and limits from the survey
The quote starts from the survey report. For each part of the home it lists the area actually reachable, with the limits: which part of the crawl space is too shallow, which extension has no cavity, where pipes or a foundation get in the way. Anything outside the limits is listed separately.
Calculate thickness and preparation
For each part the adviser picks material and layer thickness. The amount of material follows from area and thickness. Preparation work, such as enlarging a hatch, clearing debris from the crawl space or fitting vents, gets its own line with the reason it is needed.
Record the proposal with limits
The owner receives a proposal per part of the home with area, material, preparation and work boundaries. On acceptance it is fixed what will and will not be insulated. Those agreements go straight to the job card, so the crew knows where the work stops.
Alongside your calculations and price lists.
Insulation contractors often work with a price list per method, a spreadsheet for quantities and quotes from a standard template. Prices and material choices stay yours; the quote module calculates with them. The survey report comes from the survey app or form the surveyor uses now. Accepted quotes move on to scheduling, the job card and invoicing, with area and limits as the basis for everything after.
Price per square metre or per part
A price per square metre is easy to compare but hides preparation and fixed costs like setting up the blowing machine. A price per part of the home, built from area, material and preparation, shows where the money goes. For comparison, the quote can still show a per square metre figure alongside it.
Survey by adviser or by the crew
A survey by an adviser produces a tidy quote but costs an extra visit. Some insulation contractors let the crew survey on the day and carry out the work straight away. That is faster, but the customer knows less certainly beforehand what it will cost. An adviser survey is wiser for more complex homes.
Offer options in layer thickness
A thicker layer insulates better but does not always fit: a shallow crawl space limits room, and a cavity has a fixed width. Offering thickness options only makes sense where the construction allows it. The quote then shows per option what it means for material and the work itself.
How it already runs at similar businesses.
What we prepare in the quotes.
From the start the quote calculates per part of the home with area and limits from the survey, thickness, material and preparation, and records the proposal with those limits, including online acceptance by the owner. Before going live we take two cases from your own work: a terraced house with a fully reachable crawl space, and a corner house where a third of the crawl space is too shallow and the extension has no cavity. Quotes for housing projects and following up open quotes are added when you are ready for them.

Explore pricing and optionsHow do we explain that part of the floor won't be insulated?
By naming it in the quote as a work boundary, with a photo from the survey and the reason, such as a crawl space too shallow behind a foundation wall. The owner knows beforehand what will not happen and why, and there is no surprise at handover.
Can we show options for different materials?
Yes, per part of the home the quote can show options, for example another material or thickness. The owner picks one on acceptance. That choice carries through to the job card and the material reservation, so the warehouse only orders what was actually chosen.
What if more preparation turns out to be needed?
The crew reports it with a photo and reason, and the office contacts the owner before any extra work. If the quote included a condition for that situation with a fixed extra charge, it can be settled straight away.
Can we reflect grant conditions in the quote?
We can set out clearly in the quote the details an owner needs for an application, such as material, thickness and area. Whether a scheme applies is for the owner to check with the official source. You do not promise any grant.
What often connects to this.
- Enquiry form for insulation contractorsAn enquiry form for insulation contractors that asks about construction, area and access to the crawl space, cavity or loft, so the office knows whether a survey can go ahead.
- Digital job cards for insulation contractorsDigital job cards for insulation contractors with the survey report and work boundaries, so the crew knows where the work starts and stops and records deviations on site.
- Invoicing software for insulation contractorsInvoicing software for insulation contractors that turns installed quantities and signed-off parts of the home into an invoice, with differences from the quote visible before it goes out with a payment link.
