Which questions delivery and assembly operators keep getting.

Consumers expecting a delivery with assembly have many questions about preparation. Does the old wardrobe need to be gone already? Should I clear the floor? Will the crew take the cardboard away? Can the wardrobe go on a plasterboard wall? Does there need to be a socket nearby for the lighting? At delivery and assembly operators, these questions come in through the shop, customer service and sometimes the fitters themselves. The answer depends on the item, the service and the arrangements with the shop. A general answer that does not fit means a crew that cannot start because the room is not ready, or a consumer who worries for no reason.

Planning and customer service decide which information the assistant may use: what the consumer should prepare per item type, what the crew brings and does not, and which situations must be reported in advance.

If the consumer gives their order number and postcode, the assistant can look up the items and service and give a targeted answer, such as: for the wardrobe, the wall needs to be clear across its full width.

Collect preparation guidance

Planning and customer service decide which information the assistant may use: what the consumer should prepare per item type, what the crew brings and does not, and which situations must be reported in advance. Arrangements per retailer are kept separate, so the answer fits the shop where the consumer bought.

Answer about their own delivery

If the consumer gives their order number and postcode, the assistant can look up the items and service and give a targeted answer, such as: for the wardrobe, the wall needs to be clear across its full width. Prices and internal notes stay shielded. Without an order number it gives general guidance.

Exceptions go to planning

If the consumer reports a situation that affects the work, such as narrow stairs, a wall with pipes or a request to put the wardrobe elsewhere, it goes to planning with the order attached. The assistant says a colleague will assess it and does not promise the crew will solve it.

On your own information, with a person behind it.

The assistant uses the website's preparation guidance, the arrangements per retailer and customer service's frequently asked questions, once approved. Order data comes from planning, read-only. Handed-over reports arrive in customer service's mailbox or ticket system. Planning owns what is said about the delivery; the retailer remains owner of terms of sale and product information. Every conversation is stored so it can be reviewed later.

Your own assistant or in the shop's name

Some shops want their customer to ask questions at the shop, not with an unfamiliar operator. An assistant in the shop's name keeps the customer relationship there, but needs sources that are correct per shop. An assistant of the operator itself is simpler, but needs clarity about who answers what.

Answer product questions or refer them

Consumers also ask about the item itself: which colour, what are the dimensions, can the door hinge left or right? That is the shop's information. The assistant does better to refer those questions to the shop than to answer from incomplete product data. It can explain where the consumer will find it, for example in the order confirmation.

Always available or at set times

Consumers often prepare in the evening or at the weekend, when customer service is closed. An assistant that answers general preparation questions then stops them being unprepared on the day. Reports that need a person are picked up the next working day, and the assistant says so plainly.

What the AI assistant may answer.

The assistant answers questions about preparing the home per item type from approved information. When the order number and postcode are known it tailors the answer to the order; situations that affect the work go to planning. We prepare that information per item type together. Two conversations are worked through in advance: a question about clearing a room, and a consumer who reports that the stairs are narrower than stated. Your own information per retailer can be added when a shop wants it.

Can the assistant reschedule a delivery?

It can take a request and pass it to planning, but cannot promise a new date. The consumer gets confirmation that the request was received and hears from planning whether it works. Planning remains in charge of crews and windows.

What if the assistant gives a wrong answer?

Every conversation is stored with its source. Customer service can read back what was said and adjust the source. If a wrong answer causes a problem on the day, you can trace where it went wrong and improve the guidance.

Does the assistant answer questions from shops too?

At first it focuses on consumers and home preparation. Questions from shops about orders, prices or outstanding items belong in the customer portal or with planning. If a shop asks anyway, the assistant points to that route.

Can the assistant receive photos of the situation?

A consumer can add a photo, for example of the stairs or the wall. The assistant does not assess it itself, but sends it with the report to planning. A colleague looks at it and gets in touch if something needs adjusting.
