Outdoor spaces and grounds: AI enquiry assistant for green roof installers
An AI enquiry assistant for green roof installers that answers owners' questions about maintenance visits and roof care using approved information, and hands over to a person when in doubt or when there is damage.
Which questions green roof installers keep getting.
Green roof owners ask the same questions again and again: should I water the roof in a dry summer, why is the sedum turning red, when is the next maintenance visit, can I pull weeds myself? Green roof installers answer them by email or phone, often with the same reply. At the same time, some questions need an expert judgement, such as a damp patch on a ceiling or a roof area that is bare after winter. An assistant must not diagnose those. An owner who gets a wrong answer about a leak can suffer damage, and the question soon lands with the company that installed the roof.

The assistant only uses what you have released: care guidance per system, the maintenance schedule for the logged in owner and answers approved by the technical adviser. Warranty conditions and pricing are excluded unless you deliberately add them. You manage that selection and can adjust it at any time.
Place and scope the question
A question about sedum turning red in a dry spell is recognised as a care question. A question about a leak or a damp patch is recognised as something the assistant does not judge. It explains that a person needs to look at it and what the owner can do meanwhile, such as taking photos.
Answer or pass on
When the released text holds the answer, the assistant also says where it comes from, for example the care guide for sedum. If the question is about damage, a complaint or a wish for an extra visit, it drafts a short request with the address, the question and any photos sent. That request goes to the planner, and the owner reads that a member of staff will contact them.
On your own information, with a person behind it.
Its sources are the care pages on the website, the maintenance schedule per roof and a set of questions and answers released by the technical adviser. It cannot make or move bookings; it only reads. A question it does not handle reaches the planner wherever the planner already picks up requests, with the roof file attached. Every conversation can be retrieved, so the adviser can read how an owner was helped and where the released text fell short.
General answers or answers per roof
A general assistant answers questions about caring for sedum and herb roofs for anyone. An assistant that knows the owner's roof can also say when the next maintenance is due and which system is installed. That requires the owner to log in and access per roof to be properly managed.
Broad or tightly scoped
The more topics the assistant takes on, the greater the chance it says something the adviser would phrase differently, for example about clearing a roof outlet yourself or walking across a herb roof. A narrow brief, covering only care and the maintenance schedule, produces more referrals. With damp, leaks or edges lifted by wind, that narrow brief is not a preference but a condition.
Ask for photos or pass on at once
For a question about a bare patch or discolouration, a photo helps the planner enormously. The assistant can ask for one before passing the question on. With an acute leak, speed matters more, so it passes the question on immediately and asks for photos to be added later.

The assistant begins with two topics: care of the owner's own roof and the date of the next maintenance visit, only for owners who log in. Everything else goes to the planner. Together we try out two situations: someone whose sedum turns red in August and who is worried, and a board member of a residents' association who sees damp on the top floor ceiling. A public version with general green roof guidance can be switched on once those two work well.

Explore pricing and optionsCan the assistant assess a leak?
No. A leak can have many causes and needs an expert to look at the roof. The assistant explains that someone has to come and look, asks for photos and where in the building the problem is, and passes the question to the planner with priority.
What if an owner asks whether they can pull weeds themselves?
Only if the technical adviser has released text for it, for example which growth between the sedum may be removed and that the roof should only be accessed with edge protection or a fixed access point. Without that text, the assistant passes the question on. It never gives its own advice on working at height.
Can the assistant book a maintenance visit?
No. It passes the question to the planner as a request, with the address and the reason. The planner agrees with the owner when someone will come. What the assistant can do is give the date of maintenance already in the schedule.
How do we keep the answers up to date?
The care guidance itself is fairly stable. New questions mostly appear when you start offering a different system or planting mix. Once a season, look at which questions most often ended up with the planner; that is where the next candidate for a released answer lies, which the adviser reads and approves first.
