Food and specialist retail: Website for ice cream makers
A website for ice cream makers that shows the seasonal flavours, the permanent classics and the ice cream cakes, so visitors know what is in the display and what to reserve.
What visitors want to know from ice cream makers.
Ice cream makers change their display constantly. In June the strawberry sorbet is the star, in September fig and walnut arrive, and pistachio sometimes vanishes for a week because the paste has run out. A website with a fixed flavour list is wrong within weeks, and visitors turn up for a flavour that is not there. The business also sells ice cream cakes for birthdays and weddings, may supply restaurants and takes a cart to events. On many sites those three stories run together, alongside opening hours that shift with the season. Someone who wants to order a cake cannot find which sizes exist or how far ahead to order.

Display apart from the core range
We separate the flavours that always come back from those that rotate with the season. The classics get a permanent place with a short description. The rotating part becomes a list the maker updates whenever a new tub goes into the display, without anyone having to create a page.
Ice cream cakes as a product
Ice cream cakes get their own section, with sizes, possible flavour combinations, examples of decoration and the minimum notice needed. For a wedding or corporate cake, the page says a conversation comes first. Visitors know what to expect before they fill in the form.
Trade and events kept apart
Restaurants that want to stock your ice cream and organisers looking for a cart have different questions from someone after a scoop. A separate page explains how supply in larger tubs works and what a cart on location involves. Those enquiries arrive through their own form, apart from cake orders.
Connected to your software.
Many ice cream makers have a till in the parlour, a social media account where new flavours are announced and sometimes an order form from a general platform. At the start we list which information is already kept somewhere. The flavours in the display usually are not recorded digitally anywhere, so they get a simple entry screen. Seasonal opening hours are managed in one place, so they match on every page and in search results.
Every flavour or a selection
A full list of the display is useful for people coming for something specific, but needs updating daily. A selection of permanent flavours plus this week's newcomers is easier to keep current and says enough to get someone through the door. Choose what fits your rhythm, because an outdated full list does more harm than a short one.
Ordering cakes online or by enquiry
Standard cakes in a fixed size with fixed flavours can be ordered directly and paid for in advance if you like. Cakes with a custom design, message or photo need a conversation. A site that offers both routes keeps simple orders from getting stuck in email threads and stops special requests being squeezed into a standard form.
One site or a separate trade entrance
If the trade side grows, a separate entrance for business customers with supply terms, delivery days and a range in large tubs can be clearer. For a parlour with the occasional restaurant customer, one page on the existing site is enough. The choice depends on how many enquiries come in now.

The site we build gets the regular flavours, a display list the ice cream maker updates, a cake section with sizes and ordering lead time, an order form for standard cakes and a page for restaurants and events. An ordinary summer week and a week in which three flavours change at once are clicked through together, to see whether the list keeps up. Paying in advance for cakes and a business entrance are added when you are ready for them.

Explore pricing and optionsCan we add new flavours to the site ourselves?
Yes. You add a new flavour with its name, a short description and whether it is vegan or contains nuts. That works from a phone, even while working in the production room. When a flavour leaves the display, you mark it unavailable and it drops off the list without losing its description.
How do we show the parlour is closed in winter?
Opening hours are set per period, with a start and end date. In winter the site shows that the parlour is closed and when it reopens, and if relevant that cakes can still be ordered. Search engines get the same hours, so nobody turns up to a locked door.
Do we need a photo of every flavour?
No. A tub of ice cream tends to look much the same in a photo, so individual flavour shots add little. Photos do work for cakes, where customers choose by appearance, and for the parlour itself. One good photo of the display says more than twenty shots of separate tubs.
Will the site show up in searches for ice cream cakes?
That becomes more likely when the cake page describes concretely what you make: sizes, flavours, options for a message or photo, where to collect and how far ahead to order. General lines about craftsmanship help less than that specific information, for visitors and search engines alike.
