Define scenes and complexity
The quote starts by splitting the script into scenes. For each scene you choose the complexity: number of characters, camera movement, lip sync, backgrounds and effects. The system calculates each level with the time you normally allow for it. You can see which scenes take the most work and where the client could simplify.
Cost the stages and rounds
Alongside animation, the calculation covers script, styleframes, storyboard, animatic, sound and delivery. For each stage you set the number of included revision rounds. Extra rounds and changes after sign-off get their own rate, so it's clear what a late adjustment costs. Licences for music or voices appear as separate lines.
Get the agreements signed off
The proposal lists the scenes, the style, the included rounds per stage, the delivery formats and who approves. The client accepts those agreements together with the price. If a request later falls outside them, the quote shows exactly why it counts as extra work.

Licence prices for music, voices and fonts come from suppliers and are entered per project. Fixed price or per scene
A fixed price for the whole film is easy for the client to follow, but if the script grows during production, the studio absorbs the difference. A price per scene moves with changes to the script. Many studios quote a total based on a scene list and agree that any additional scenes are charged individually.
Fixed number of rounds or unlimited
Unlimited revisions sound client-friendly, but they make scheduling unpredictable and margins uncertain. A set number of rounds per stage gives both sides clarity. What matters is that the client understands that a change at storyboard stage is far cheaper than the same change once the animation is finished.
Licences included or separate
Music, voices and fonts come with licences that have their own terms for duration, channel and region. Including them in the price is simple, but then the risk of a licence that turns out too narrow sits with you. Listing them separately makes clear what the client is buying and how long they may use it.

With a few fixed levels that you define yourselves, for example based on characters, movement and lip sync. Animators and the producer agree them together. After a few productions you can adjust the time norm for each level using what was actually spent, so estimates keep improving.
Can we quote before there's a script?
Yes, based on an estimated length and style, with a caveat. The proposal then states that the price will be revised once the script and scene list are fixed. The client can move forward, but knows the amount may still change when the details are clear.
How do we charge for changes after storyboard sign-off?
For each change, the system shows per scene which stages need to be redone. A change that only affects sound costs less than one that touches the animation of several scenes. You can put that amount to the client before any work on it begins.
Can we offer a discount for a series of films?
Yes. In a series where characters, backgrounds and style are reused, the system can allow for less design work in later episodes. That gives a series discount a solid basis rather than an arbitrary percentage, and you can show the client where the difference comes from.
